Additional info
This eighth Horizon edition contains two world premieres: James MacMillan’s impressive Trombone concerto with Jörgen van Rijen as soloist and new passion music by the Azerbaijani composer Franghiz Ali-Zadeh. Instead of one of the four passions from the New Testament, she opted for poetry by her 14th-century countryman Imadeddin Nasimi. The third work on this SACD, Oliver Knussens Horn Concert, was originally composed for Barry Tuckwell and is played here by RCO’s former first horn player Félix Dervaux.

“[Wigglesworth] skilfully guided the [orchestra] … the difficult detailed Horn concert by Knussen in which Félix Dervaux played a great solo part”
– Roeland Hazendonk, Het Parool
