Karel earned his Master of Music in cello performance from the Royal Brussels Conservatory. In addition to lessons with Jeroen Reuling, Olsi Leka and Marcio Carneiro, and numerous masterclasses, including with Gary Hoffman, Maria Kliegel and Lluis Claret, Karel took lessons in singing, music theory, counterpoint and piano. With his passion for both music and science, Karel entered the Tonmeister Institut at the Universität der Künste Berlin. He also became a tutor and had the chance to work as a freelancer for several studios. After receiving his Diplom Tonmeister degree in February 2015, he immediately joined Polyhymnia International.
As a recording engineer, Karel has been involved in projects with Nicolaus Harnoncourt, Bernard Haitink, Janine Jansen and Orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Berliner Philharmoniker, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, and the Brussels Philharmonic. Besides his activities as a recording engineer and editor, Karel is very involved in system administration and IT. His programming skills make it possible for Polyhymnia to master and check huge amounts of data in very little time. Karel is deeply involved in automating the process of generating digital files in multiple formats for download and streaming services.
